Poem - The Disciples Rebuke

The Disciple’s Rebuke
By O. Kris Widmer on 11/4/2015
Based on Matthew 19:13

For a Letter to friend Stephanie H.,
to encourage her in her ministry to small children in Timor-Leste, Australia.
The BOLD faced words were required words, selected from a poetry prompt.

Uh…No…Jesus!
You don’t want to hold one of those
little humans, do you?
Children, you gotta love ‘em!
Some are rather dirt caked abit.
And that one there has a slippery diaper.
Stinky!
They make such a din,
With all the wailing and such.

There are adults that need saving
We have deadlines to keep
And are committed to keeping schedule!

Send them away!

What is that, Jesus?
What do you mean we are shallow?
Leave them alone?
Don’t hinder them?
The Kingdom belongs to them?

BOOM!
